Led by the International Center for Maize and Wheat Improvement (CIMMYT), Mexico, UC Davis served as one of the partners in the implementation of the USAID-funded Agricultural Innovation Program (AIP) in Pakistan under the overall initiative on Promoting Science and Innovation in Agriculture in Pakistan (PSIAP). 

UC Davis, thru the Global Engagement Office, directed and oversaw the execution and completion of the human capacity development component with the selection of 14 Pakistani students, 9 MSc and 5 PhD, all of whom completed their degrees from various US Land Grant universities, including UC Davis.  The other LGUs were Mississippi State University, Purdue University, Texas A&M University, University of Massachusetts, University of Minnesota, University of Missouri & Washington State University. 

In partnership with various Pakistan agricultural universities, UC Davis also worked in improving horticulture production in Pakistan by helping farmers grow more high-quality perennial crops and by creating better postharvest technology, and assisted Pakistani extension services in developing the e-Pak Ag electronic systems for delivering agricultural information to farmers.
