To attract bright, capable students we need the best instructors in the world. Our faculty open doors for learning and discovery. Our students become the leaders and problem-solvers of tomorrow. The goals we achieve and the diligence we maintain benefit people the world over. Your support helps the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences maintain its stature as the world’s premier research college of its type.
The CA&ES Annual Fund is an unrestricted fund designated to support some of the College’s highest needs. Over the years it has helped fund student development and outreach programs, scholarships and new faculty startup. With decreased state assistance to UC Davis, the financial burden has shifted to our students; in response, the CA&ES Annual Fund is currently funding three student support programs, as well as student development and outreach.
Dean’s Circle
Donors of $1,000 or more annually to the CA&ES Annual Fund are honored as members of the Dean’s Circle, the college’s elite giving club. CA&ES Dean’s Circle members are among the first to receive news of the college, subscriptions to CA&ES Outlook magazine, and invitations throughout the year to interact with the Dean, faculty, students, and other Dean’s Circle members at exclusive events. Dean’s Circle members will also receive an annual report detailing how gifts to this fund make a difference across the college.
CA&ES Annual Fund/Dean’s Circle Funded Programs
Strategic Recruitment
Each year, three entering transfer students to the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences are awarded a CA&ES Dean’s Circle Scholarship, two-year, renewable awards. One student enrolling in each of our three academic divisions becomes a CA&ES Dean’s Circle Scholar. Learn more about some of our Scholars here.
Graduate Student Support
In honor of Dean Van Alfen and Executive Associate Dean MacDonald and their 13 years of service to the College, the Neal Van Alfen and James MacDonald Graduate Student Support Fund endowment was established with a gift from the Annual Fund/Dean’s Circle and will support CA&ES graduate students in perpetuity.
Encouraging New Philanthropy
New gifts for student support endowments in the College have been matched 1 to 1 through the Dean’s Circle Student Support Matching Program. At completion of the program, the College will have some 15 new endowments, totaling over $600,000.
Student Development and Outreach
The CA&ES Annual Fund/Dean’s Circle sponsored the 2013 Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences national conference, held in Sacramento, CA.
