Get to Know Aggie Jumpstart
One-on-one academic advising
Students will have multiple one-on-one advising appointments throughout the year with an academic advisor in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Participation in Career Discovery Groups
Our Career Discovery Groups (CDG) are tailored to support the unique academic and professional needs of Aggie students, while also offering a sense of community as you engage with peers throughout the program.
In Fall Quarter, Aggie Jumpstart sections will be offered during the following days and times:
1st Years (Option 1): Mondays, 5:10-6:00 p.m.
1st Years (Option 2): Tuesdays, 5:10-6:00 p.m.
Transfer Students: Wednesdays, 4:40-6:00 p.m.
Service Events and Volunteer Opportunities
Students will engage in one-time community service opportunities both on and off campus. These projects deal with current issues facing the different fields that correlate directly with the college. Whether that be harvesting fruit to donate to the Yolo Food Bank or sorting through clothing at Sacramento Youth and Family Services, these experiences allow students to learn more about issues in the community while developing relationships with their peers and CA&ES staff outside of the classroom.
"Leadership through Learning" Events
Students will develop, deepen or expand their leadership skills through these interactive leadership workshops. Through simulation activities, group discussions and assessments students will be able to get to reflect and practice articulating their skills and experience, and get to know more about their peers’ skills all while having fun!
Community Engagement Events
As an Aggie Jumpstart participant you will have opportunities to build connections across campus through Community Events hosted by the UC Davis Academic Retention Initiative Centers. Students enjoy quarterly events such as Waffle Wednesday with the Native Nest, Pan Dulce with CCLASS, Study Jams with CADSS and many more!
