Isao Fujimoto has earned the UC system’s Constantine Panunzio Distinguished Emeriti Award, which recognizes scholarly work or educational service since retirement by a UC emeritus or emerita in the humanities or social sciences.

Fujimoto joined the UC Davis faculty as a founding member of the community development program in 1967 and subsequently founded the Asian American studies program. He retired as a senior lecturer in 1994, but the Panunzio award committee noted that his academic work has continued “unabated.”

CA&ES faculty take a whistle-stop tour to give new faculty members a sampling of what our region has to offer.

CA&ES and UC Agriculture and Natural Resources organized a two-day bus tour in September before fall classes began. Seasoned faculty members and UCCE county advisors acted as tour guides. Stakeholder visits gave our newest faculty — who are recruited from throughout the world — a view of some of the opportunities for research partnerships here in California.

An international survey has ranked UC Davis No. 3 in the world in environmental sustainability.

The annual GreenMetric rankings by the University of Indonesia moved UC Davis up one spot from its No. 4 ranking a year earlier. It is now behind only the University of Nottingham in England and the University of Connecticut. 

Bixby fund supports popular courses in practical agriculture.

Students wanting to learn how to drive a tractor, weld farm equipment, or teach agricultural mechanics can choose from a slate of courses offered through the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering (BAE). These popular courses are made possible by the generosity of the late Fred H. Bixby.
